AC 4711
AK4711 rock like hell, sing like angels, always melodic, never off-key, always precise. The band consists of four women whose wit finds its way into the music between poetry and slogans. They call on you to listen, laugh, dance and rock along. Anja, Caro, Cindy and Kerstin combine musical ability, a feel for driving beats and the ability to write songs that won't leave your ears after you hear them for the first time.
AK4711 are undoubtedly an exceptional phenomenon between indie rock and popular culture: intelligent, cheeky food for the mind, raw, modern rock sounds for the soul and the refreshing realization that four women can, should and must rock - and rock hard. AK4711 - fire from all channels. And they smell good.
Of course AK4711 sing in German, and of course they say what's going on, and while they take serious things seriously, they don't take themselves too seriously, which means that the fun that the four spread is immediately infectious. With irony, small, subtle observations and aphorisms like "Everyone is the same at the zebra crossing," they score goals before anyone can get in the way. "We enjoy playing with all kinds of clichés, so you can't reduce us to that," says lead singer Anja with a grin.
The first single "Rock" from their debut album, released in 2005, gives only a small, but at the same time sweet and powerful, insight into their musical work. Reduced to one track, it is elsewhere! How it all began: A year and a half ago, drummer Caro was actually looking for a guitarist, asked a friend, and in conversation, he kept referring her to a woman: Anja. "He wouldn't let up. At some point I said: give me the number and finally leave me alone!", says Caro, laughing. She called and the two arranged to meet. When she met lead singer Anja for the first time, it became clear: they both loved music, both could dig into the details late into the night, both were only satisfied when everything was right. And they sleep at the end of the year. They wrote their first songs straight away. By this point, at the latest, it was clear that they would form a band. Anja then contacted bassist Cindy, who had just moved to Hamburg from Belgium at the time. Cindy immediately agreed: "How could I have resisted this idea and these great songs? The combination of rock, pop and electronica, all with irony and humor - I found that very exciting. It all just fit. Together we are not afraid to just do what we want!" AK4711 were almost complete... "We needed a guitarist. Finding her was easy and difficult at the same time, because we knew who we wanted: Kerstin," says Anja, and Kerstin confirms: "For me it's all or nothing when it comes to music and a band. The three of them didn't give up and then it was clear why: the chemistry was there. It was fun. I just had to accept the challenge of starting something with these great musicians." Caro adds: "It was a very good feeling, because we knew that we were now ready to rock the republic. We are four different personalities, each crazy in our own way, but in this band we form a whole.” It wasn't long before several record companies took notice of the crazy musicians. AK4711 decided on Grönland Records from London, the city that is teeming with bands, but where you also notice what is different, what has power, energy and is moving forward. At the beginning of this year AK4711 signed a contract with Grönland Records and went to Andy's London studio with GANG OF FOUR musician Andy Gill (producer of Futureheads, Killing Joke, Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others) to record the single “ROCK”. In the summer AK4711 will be back on the island and will record their entire debut album with Andy Gill.
