    About the EP:

One thing must be clear: When the dreamy poets of the Viennese music group OEHL suddenly launch into a blunt critique of capitalism, something is wrong with this world. Then it's urgent. Or, to quote Ariel Oehl: "If you ever engage with global finance and the world of work, you really have to become a Marxist."

Work without joy, shopping without meaning, everyday life without perspective: The band presents a content-rich mini-concept album. But they don't want to depress us—quite the opposite. They want to shake us awake, or at least sharpen our senses for all the contradictions we constantly experience.

The world is, in a way, screwed, and the problem is: We are the world. Including us, who give a moralizing sermon about the importance of fair trade products in the morning and then have some Chinese rubbish delivered on Amazon for five euros in the afternoon. Anyone who recognizes this has two options: give up or fight back. OEHL have made the decision. "Since I had a son, I've been thinking much more about the world we're leaving behind. After all, he'll have to live in it one day. Or—who knows—survive," says Ariel Oehl. "For that reason alone, I want to believe in a change for the better. If we don't believe in it ourselves, how can things get better?"

It can get better. It must get better. It will get better. Don't give up. 100% hope! That's the overarching idea of this EP. As bassist Hjörtur Hjörleifsson put it: "Hope doesn't solve all problems, but it sets the tone and shows where things should go. It's our capital in negotiating a better future."
